“Justice Jim” Johnson, former state senator and Arkansas Supreme Court justice who made his mark as a Southern segregationist, became one of newly elected President Bill Clinton’s most ardent foes in his home state. Johnson (shown here in 1966), in conjunction with other Clinton detractors, assisted former municipal judge David Hale in injecting Bill Clinton into the federal prosecution of Jim McDougal, Susan McDougal, and Governor Jim Guy Tucker and in stirring up the Whitewater scandal in the national news.
