This is a directory of more than seven thousand alternative practitioners in over one hundred treatment categories nationally. The directory is revised annually. It is available for $5.95 from bookstores, health food stores, or the publisher.
Naturopathy
Most naturopathic physicians are graduates of a four-year postgraduate medical sciences program. Their training includes courses in herbal medicine, nutrition, homeopathy, exercise therapy, acupressure, and acupuncture. In a number of states naturopathic physicians (N.D.’s) must pass a state licensing exam. Note: Some people claiming to be trained naturopaths have only taken mail-order training; be sure to inquire about the training of any medical professional you plan to consult.
