Ghosts Among Us - James Van Praagh [51]

for a cruise from Turkey to Athens. Water is a very special conductor of energy; as a result, the experiences people have on our cruises are often amplified in one way or another. This particular workshop brought together people from all parts of the world and all walks of life. We had a few medical professionals, a homemaker, and even a newlywed couple, to name a few. All had one goal—to have an experience that would transform their lives.

Fayed and Shania, a married couple from Kuwait, had lost their son Bruno about a year before. They took the cruise in the hope of contacting him and getting closure. Bruno had loved everything about rocks and had studied geology in college. At the young age of twenty-four, Bruno was very well respected by his colleagues for his intelligence and talent.

As with all of my workshops, I explained to the audience how the process of ghostly communication works. After doing approximately twelve readings that first session, I felt that I had relayed all of the messages that needed to be given, and we ended for the day. Fayed and Shania were disappointed that Bruno did not come through. Everyone went to their rooms to dress for dinner except Fayed and Shania. They stayed behind, grieving tearfully for their young son.

My assistant Jorge was still in the room putting things away, and he could tell that the couple was quite upset. He explained again what I had said in the workshop. “Just because James didn’t bring you a message from your son doesn’t mean your son’s not around. Be open. Something will happen to let you know that he is here with you. Something always happens in these workshops.” Fayed and Shania felt comforted by Jorge’s words and returned to their stateroom to prepare for dinner.

As Fayed was washing up in the bathroom, he reached for a hand towel. Suddenly a large rock fell to the floor. He screamed for his wife to come and look. Shania rushed into the bathroom and saw Fayed staring at the rock on the floor. “What is it?” she asked.

“It’s Bruno!” Fayed said excitedly. “The rock came from Bruno. He left us a rock in the middle of our room in the middle of the sea.”

Fayed and Shania came to dinner, their auras lit up in gold and blue colors, and I knew something had happened. When they told me about the rock from nowhere, I was totally blown away by the materialization. To this day I think it was one of the strongest examples I have ever witnessed of the power of ghostly communication.

Ghosts have an impact on us more often with their thoughts and actions than we could ever imagine. Even the word inspiration actually means “in spirit.” Because we cannot apply physical laws of time and space to the spiritual worlds, often what we label as coincidence is really the influence of the spirit world. We need to be more inquisitive about our coincidences, as there is no such thing as accident or luck. Our Universe, although perceived by many as chaotic and out of control, is a perfectly run system governed by spiritual laws. The next time a coincidence occurs in your life, investigate it and dig a little deeper into what it might mean. There is always something underneath a chance meeting or a lucky break. Usually, it is a ghost or two trying to send us a message.

Please remember that a ghost in the light will communicate in a nonthreatening way. An earthbound ghost, however, is more likely to be distressed or confused and will communicate by causing disturbances. It is the earthbound ghost that haunts the living and is apt to cause harm.

Some Go Haunting

I’m going to freeze to death! I thought to myself as my teeth chattered and my hands and feet grew numb from the cold. Even rubbing my hands together couldn’t bring any feeling back. I could not help berating myself, Gee, James, why didn’t you wear your overcoat before running out the door? Why did you go in this damn broom closet in the first place? Why did you have to be so nosy? I wonder if anyone else sees them? What do they want? Why won’t they leave me alone! I started to shake, not from the cold, but from
