Fantastic harbour views and alfresco drinking are the main reasons to head to this upmarket bar above Ocean Centre’s vast shopping malls. The drinks list is long on cocktails and wine, less so on beer. Arrive early on weekends if you want to snag a spot outdoors.
DELANEY’S Map Pub

This Irish-themed pub has lots of dark wood, green felt and a long bar that you can really settle into. It serves a decent pint of Guinness, too.

Russian theming – from the dacha-style walls to the music, the food and, of course, the vodka – set a fun tone here. Don a fur hat and coat and step into the ice bar if you really want to go to extremes.

This clean, modern place rubbing shoulders with the expanding Minden Rd car and club hotspot has a jukebox full of hits (and misses) and Bitburger on tap. It’s popular with visiting Germans and others who hanker after such hearty and filling nosh as pork knuckle and sauerkraut.

This tiny space lit by candles and mainly patronised by young locals is good for simply sitting, slumping and taking refuge from a day spent dodging through Tsim Sha Tsui. Things get livelier later when the DJ gets going.

Upstairs in the strikingly styled Luxe Manor hotel, Dada is an attractive, intimate cocktail bar decked out with florid wallpaper, bold purple and silver, and a couple of real Dalí paintings. The crowd is creative, professional mid-30s and the vibe is jazzy.

Soaring plate glass and an unbeatable waterfront location make this one of the best spots to soak up that Hong Kong Island skyline and take in the busy harbour, although you pay for the privilege. It’s an ideal venue from which to watch the evening lightshow at 8pm.

Occupying a floor above this increasingly interesting corner of TST, it’s worth seeking this place out for its stylish white couches, softly lit interior, mellow music and leafy, spacious terrace, ideal for alfresco drinking. Look for the neon Hollywood Game Zone sign and take the lift up.
