General Abrams (COMUSMACV) won two DSC, two SS, two LM, and BSM during his three years as a tanker with Patton, and five DSM during his five years in Vietnam, moving on to serve as Chief of Staff, U.S. Army, before dying in office in 1974.1 Lieutenant General Davison (CG, II FFV) wore the SS, two BSM, and two PH from WW II, and the DSM and AM for his tour in Vietnam, retiring with four stars to start his own business in Arlington, Virginia. Brigadier General Kinnard (C/S, II FFV) earned the BSMv in WW II and the BSM in Korea, as an artilleryman, plus the DSM, LM, DFC, and four AMv during two tours in Vietnam, opting for early retirement to teach and write military history; he lives with his wife in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Colonel Pendelton (G-3, II FFV) retired with two stars to Falls Church, Virginia. Major Kerver (Assistant G-3, II FFV) retired as a lieutenant colonel and is currently senior editor of a group of telecommunication magazines based in Englewood, Colorado. Major Magness (S-3, 2-32 FA, II FFV) earned the SS, BSM, AM, and PH for his tour, and retired with colonel's eagles to become a consulting environmental engineer in Arlington, Virginia. Specialist Fourth Class Vining (99th EOD, USARV) left the Army with the BSM, spent almost three years as an automative press operator before reenlisting; now divorced with two daughters, he is a master sergeant.

Major General Roberts (CG, 1st Cav Division) served two years in WW II and two tours in Vietnam, winning the DSM, two SS, two LM, four BSM, four AM, two ARCOM, and PH, before retiring with three stars and an executive's desk in Greenbrae, California. Major General Casey (ADC and CG, 1st Cav Division) served a year in Korea and three years in Vietnam, earning three SS, two LM, DFC, BSMv, and twelve AM before dying in a helicopter crash immediately after Cambodia. Brigadier General Shoemaker (ADC, 1st Cav Division) wore four stars plus the SS, DFC, two BSM, thirteen AM, and two ARCOM for his year in Korea and two years in Vietnam, before retiring to be a rancher in Belton, Texas. Colonel Brady (CO, 1st Cav Division Arty) won the SS, two DFC, SM, BSMv, and forty AM for his two tours in Vietnam, made major general before retirement, and is now an executive living with his wife in St. Petersburg, Florida. Major Pokorny (S-3, 1st Cav Division Arty) won the LM, three BSM, and AMv for his tour, is now a management consultant, and lives with his family in Lawton, Oklahoma. Colonal Ochs (CO, 1st Brigade, 1st Cav Division) received two BSM and ARCOM for his year in Korea, but only an early retirement for his abbreviated command in Vietnam. Now an executive, he lives with his wife in Arlington, Virginia. Colonel Meyer (CO, 2d Brigade, 1st Cav Division) was a company commander in Korea, a battalion commander, brigade commander, and division chief of staff during his two tours in Vietnam, earning two SS, LM, DFC, two BSMv, BSM, thirty-four AM, two ARCOM, and PH, and after four years as Chief of Staff, U.S. Army, moved on with his four retired stars to a defense contractor executive position. He lives in Arlington, Virginia. Colonel Clarke (CO, 2d Brigade, 1st Cav Division) won the SS and two BSM in Korea, three LM and ARCOM for two Vietnam tours, and retired as a brigadier general to run his own business in Clearwater, Florida. Colonel Kingston (CO, 1st and 3d Brigade, 1st Cav Division) was a platoon leader and company commander in Korea and served three years in Vietnam, earning the DSC, two SS, LM, DFC, BSMv, BSM, and thirty-seven AM, and retired as a four-star general to Alexandria, Virginia. Lieutenant Colonel Smith (CO, 8th Engineer Battalion) served two and a half years in Vietnam, earning the SS, LM, BSMv, four BSM, AMv, twenty AM, ARCOMv, three ARCOM, and PH. He is the father of one son and is presently a major general. Captain Anderson (CO, B/2-5 Cav) retired as a lieutenant colonel with two SS, five BSMv, eleven AM, and three ARCOMv before moving on to management positions.
