Into the Fire - Leslie Kelly [50]
The kiss went on … and on … and on, until she no longer felt the touch just on her mouth. She could somehow feel it all over her body. She shook, felt weak and thought her knees were going to buckle beneath her. Unable to help it, she fell into him, needing his support. His arms were there to catch her, starting the pleasure building all over again.
Taking advantage of the moment, she wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and pulled his body hard against hers, tilting her head to kiss him more deeply. Pressing together from shoulder to knee, she could feel his need was as great as her own. His erection strained against his jeans, and she moaned, twisting against him, hearing by his ragged breathing that he was holding on by as thin a thread as she was.
Feeling his thick, hard breadth pressing right into the front of her jeans, she couldn't stand it anymore. She jerked against him, once, twice, finding from his rigid strength and the tight fabric of her jeans the release she'd craved from the minute she'd started reading the article.
And right there, fully clothed and without anything more than a kiss and an embrace, he made the earth move for her.
Nate had never seen anything more glorious in his life. Lacey seemed completely wild, uninhibited, lost in sensation. He loved that he made her eyes grow wide, that she looked without fully seeing. Her cries rang sweetly in his ears, and he watched as her head fell back when she reached her peak.
He nearly followed her. It took all his control not to let her cry of pleasure bring him over the edge, too. Somehow, maybe by focusing on the emotions darting around in his head as he watched her, he managed to avoid climaxing, too.
Still holding her, sated and replete in his arms, he lowered her to the floor. She didn't even open her eyes as he stretched out next to her. Nate remained silent, watching the expressions crossing Lacey's beautiful face. Her quickened breath gradually slowed, and the high color in her cheeks receded.
Finally, she opened her eyes and looked at him. "Nathan?"
"Yes, Lacey?"
"I think you'd better give me a few minutes before you get the feather."

A moment later, when Lacey's pulse finally returned to normal and she had a chance to think about what had just happened, she slowly sat up. Nate sat beside her, his elbow resting on one upraised knee, a tender look in his eyes. Lacey didn't know what to say. What did one say at a time like this? Uh, thanks for the orgasm—is it time to eat?
"You okay?" he finally asked.
She nodded, then whispered, "I didn't plan this."
"I know."
She knew she had to be honest. "I won't lie and say my brain had nothing to do with it. My brain is engaged enough to know that as much as I wanted this, it's simply impossible."
"Nah. Unlikely, maybe. Unexpected, yeah. Not impossible."
Lacey rose to her feet, holding her arms tightly across her chest. "Nate, aside from the fact that I don't do casual relationships, you and I are working together. How are we going to be able to handle the story if we…"
He rose, too. "Whoa, whoa, back up a second. What makes you think there's anything casual about this?"
"Oh, come on, this has been about one thing since the minute we met."
His eyes narrowed. "Yeah, what's that one thing?" She looked at her hands and mumbled, "Well, sex, of course. Physical attraction."
He was silent for a moment, and when she glanced at him, she saw a slight tightening of his jaw. "Just sex?"
"Well, isn't it?" Even as she said the words, she knew it wasn't all, not on her part! Dammit, it wasn't just about sex, because Lacey wasn't the type of person who could separate sex from emotion. It was all wrapped up in one package for her.
She couldn't tell him that, though. Couldn't admit her emotions were already engaged, that she liked him, thought about him constantly,
