Into the Fire - Leslie Kelly [56]
Reaching toward the stereo, which stood under the front window, Lacey turned up the volume on the radio. She sipped her wine, listening to the low, soothing notes of a bluesy song. As the song ended, a prerecorded musical introduction came on. Lacey recognized the lead-in to a wildly popular call-in show.
"Perfect," she mused aloud.
Then a sultry woman's voice emerged from the speakers. "Good evening, Baltimore, this is Lady Love. And tonight, I'm feeling a just a little bit naughty."
Lacey stretched lazily. That makes two of us.
"Have you ever gotten a thrill at the thought of doing something especially erotic?" the radio deejay continued. "Been tempted to go beyond your normal boundaries and explore? Push the envelope?"
Well, yes, actually, a few hours ago.
"We all know passion and desire are an integral part of any serious relationship. But how far are you willing to go with your lover? How much would you trust him when it comes to, shall we say, experimenting?" The voice paused for a few suggestive seconds.
A rush of visual images flooded Lacey's mind. She trusted Nate completely, at least in the bedroom.
"Eroticism. Pushing the envelope. Sensual risks. That's our topic tonight on 'Night Whispers.'"
She wished he'd hurry up in the kitchen. She had a feeling this might be the type of program that would be fun to listen to with someone else—like a lover. It amazed her to think she now actually had a lover.
"How far would you go?" Lady Love continued. "Does eroticism have a place in a healthy adult relationship? Don't go away now. We've got a lot to talk about. My producer, Brian, tells me we're going to have to use a longer-than-usual time delay tonight with your calls. We wouldn't want anyone getting too carried away. But this is 'Night Whispers' … so let's take it to the edge, shall we?"
Picking up a magazine from beneath the coffee table, Lacey used it to fan her suddenly overheated face during the commercial break. She leaned back, resting her head on the seat of the couch, feeling outside herself as she acknowledged just how interesting she'd found the deejay's comments. They made her think of going even farther with Nate. She'd already gone way beyond what she'd ever experienced with anyone else. But she still wanted more. Lacey felt completely free, self-indulgent and very much in tune with her senses, not to mention her sexuality.
She wanted to explore the possibilities.
Lifting her head, she opened her eyes and studied the deep crimson shade of the wine as she brought her glass to her lips. Sipping from it, she sighed as liquid warmth filled her mouth. The silk robe wisped against her body with delightful friction. Lacey shifted her shoulders, liking the feel of the fabric against her skin. Her nipples hardened in response, suddenly tender and incredibly sensitive.
Lacey bent her leg, lifting one knee and dropping her arm over it in relaxation. Her other limb remained on the floor, loose and pliant, and Lacey felt cool air on her inner thighs as the robe parted.
She wore nothing beneath.
No mental voice of modesty screamed at her to tug the robe closed, to cover herself. Part of her shivered in anticipation at the thought of Nate walking into the room and seeing her like this. Exposed. Inviting. Ready for more.
She breathed deeply, still tasting the wine on her tongue, catching a hint of vanilla scent from the candle flickering on the table. She also noted the earthier essence of hot passion she and Nate had created earlier, and her body's renewed arousal.
As the voice on the radio returned, Lacey recognized the utter sensuality of the moment. She reveled in it.
"Welcome back, Baltimore , this is Lady Love, and tonight we're talking about eroticism. As with many of the topics we discuss here on 'Night Whispers,' the word erotic can mean different things to different people. I know one woman who says the most erotic evening she ever spent started when her husband decided to paint her toenails."
