Everywhere I went in Shikoku and Western Honshū I met warm smiles and an eagerness to help. In Tokyo, I owe a debt of gratitude to Shimokawa Tokiji, for permitting me to turn his lovely apartment into an unholy mess of leaflets, notebooks, and orange peel.
