Jared's Counterfeit Fiancee - Brenda Jackson [32]
Her gaze swept over him thoroughly one more time before she made her decision. “I think you might be right.”
He nodded slowly. “It’s your call.”
There was considerable silence. Then finally, Dana retraced the distance between them and stood before him, met his gaze, held it. Everything inside of her stirred with heated lust. “Then I’m making it.”
Jared smiled. He liked everything about her—her smile, her body, her mind. He shook his head. Forget about what he liked. It was time to focus on what he wanted. Dana Rollins was one hell of a seductive woman.
And he wanted her.
He had told her they wouldn’t sleep together, but he intended to drive her as far over the edge as she could go. “Do you trust me, Dana?”
She nodded, realizing what he was asking and why he was asking it. She stared deeply into his eyes when she answered. “Yes, I trust you.”
“Good.” And then without wasting any more time, he swept her into his arms and quickly moved in the direction of her bedroom.
“But—but you said we wouldn’t sleep together.”
He gazed down at her. “We’re not. We’re going to play a game.”
She clutched the front of his jacket to hold on to since he was walking so fast. “A game?”
“Yeah. My version of Red Light, Green Light.”
“Oh.”
Jared smiled thinking of the possibilities as he placed her on her bed. He was glad Tom was nowhere around, and just to make sure the cat didn’t show up later, Jared walked over to the bedroom door and closed it.
He sighed when he turned back to Dana and saw the look of uncertainty in her eyes. He had to remain composed for both their sakes. “Do you want to change your mind about this?” he asked softly, respecting her doubts and fears. It wasn’t about taking care of his body’s needs but rather, introducing her to how wonderful things could be between a man and a woman.
She met his gaze as she settled back in the bed. He tried not to concentrate on her legs and thighs and was finding it near impossible not to. “No, I don’t want to change my mind, Jared.”
“Are you sure?”
She nodded. “Yes.”
He moved away from the door and came to stand by the foot of the bed. “Then let me tell you about this game,” he said, removing his jacket and tossing it on a chair in her room. “The light will always be green, letting me know it’s okay to move forward. But at any time you feel rushed, overwhelmed or want me to stop, all you have to say is red light. Understand?”
She slowly nodded, although at the moment the only thing she fully understood was that he looked good standing at the foot of her bed, especially in his extremely aroused state. She wondered what he would be getting out of this since they wouldn’t be sleeping together.
He must have read the questions in her eyes. “This isn’t about me, Dana. It’s about you. I can handle things and how I do so is only for me to know.”
“And for me to find out?”
Jared laughed. The first real good laugh he’d had in a long time. “Yes, maybe one day.”
He moved slowly toward the bed and braced one knee on the mattress. He pulled her into his arms and whispered, “Green light.” Bending his head he captured her lips. The moment his tongue slid inside her mouth, heat consumed him in a way it never had before. It was hard to believe that he could want a woman this badly, with this much intensity and desire. He kissed her the same way he had dreamed about and was thrilled that she was returning his kiss with equal fire, with an urgency that only made him want her even more.
Suddenly, she broke off their kiss. “Red light,” she said breathlessly, barely able to get the words out.
He stopped kissing her and met her gaze. “I needed to breathe,” she explained. He didn’t say anything but continued to look at her. He watched as she took slow uneven breaths and licked her lips. Moments later she said softly, “Green light.”
He was ready. He captured her mouth again in his and pulled her up against his erection, wanting her to not only see but to feel what she did to him. He palmed her bottom, and then moved
