1of Truth!

2the Truth!

1It’s not. But Hannity often says it is.

1Actually, the full title is Living with Herpes in George W. Bush’s America.

2For the record, the ass on the cover belongs to male model Tyson Beckford. Thanks, Ty.

1Coulter, in her own deeply perverse idiom, weighs in on the issue of insulting women for their appearance. “There is nothing so irredeemably cruel as an attack on a woman for her looks. Attacking a female for being ugly is a hideous thing, always inherently vicious . . . so which women are constantly being called ugly? Is it Maxine Waters, Chelsea Clinton, Janet Reno, or Madeleine Albright? No, none of these. Only conservative women would have their looks held up to ridicule because only liberals could be so malevolent. A blind man in America would think the ugliest women ever to darken the planet are Paula Jones, Linda Tripp, and Katherine Harris. This from the party of Bella Abzug.” Nicely done, Ann! Triple bank shot. Attacking Democrats for being irredeemably cruel while pointing to five, count ’em five, supposedly unattractive Democratic women.

2Who was named after John the Baptist.

3The dialogue with Ken Lay is fictional. He wouldn’t even return my calls. Happy, Dutton lawyer?

1The other ten are: 1) Cutting taxes doubles revenues. 2) Democrats who oppose tax cuts for the rich are waging “class warfare.” 3) Reagan won the Cold War by putting the Pershing II Missiles into Europe. 4) Democrats are on the wrong side of history. 5) Democrats, not Republicans, are the party of “race baiting,” because Democrats accuse racists of racism. 6) A higher percentage of Republican than of Democratic senators voted for the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which means that the Republicans are the party of civil rights. 7) All education problems will be solved by vouchers. 8) Clinton gutted the military. 9) He’s not going to sit here and listen to your talking points. 10) Clinton had a chance to get Osama bin Laden from the Sudan in 1996, but blew it. (See box.)

1The Washington Post reported in an August 7, 2001, article that Bush advisors first thought that his stints at the ranch would enhance his image as a “rugged outsider.” But they later worried that the length and frequency of the getaways made it seem like the President was “loafing.” To me this just illustrates the mental limitations of the Bush team. Who says a rugged outsider can’t also loaf?

2The importance of the loose nukes program (devised by Senators Nunn and Lugar) was explained to me by Jim Walsh of Harvard’s Project for the Atom in the following amusingly straightforward way: “There are six hundred million metric tons of highly enriched uranium and weapons-grade plutonium in Russia and the former Soviet Union. You cannot make a nuclear weapon if you don’t have highly enriched uranium or weapons-grade plutonium. If you want to prevent a terrorist from getting a nuclear weapon, job one is securing all available highly enriched uranium and weapons-grade plutonium.”

1Explaining his remarks later, Cheney said that he hadn’t known about his company’s business with Iraq—but that if he had known, he wouldn’t have done anything differently. Actually, he just said he didn’t know—a defense later employed by Enron CEOs Ken Lay and Jeffrey Skilling.

1Daschle said, “I’m saddened that the President failed so miserably at diplomacy that we are now forced into war.”

1Scumbag—Representative Dan Burton to the Washington Post; sociopath—Craig Shirley in the Washington Times; perpetual preener, rapist, unserious—George Will in his syndicated column; craven miscreant—Michelle Malkin in the Washington Times.

2Just kidding. I have never heard of Steven Seagal being referred to as a “rapist,” or a “sociopath.” Or “unserious.”

2To offer the Journal a courtesy that I’m sure they wouldn’t reciprocate, I should explain that their editorial actually suggested that the boys were knifed to death and then put on the train tracks as an elaborate cover-up orchestrated by Clinton and his personal goon squad,
