Free lessons are available on Wednesday at noon, Wednesday evenings in summer, or by appointment. Flat-soled shoes are mandatory, as is all-white clothing at its social events.

BEST PLACES TO BE NAKED IN SF

Yep, it’s legal: in September 2004, a California appellate court ruled public nudity OK in SF. Should the mood strike, you can strip down bare-ass-nekkid and not end up in jail. The Golden Gate National Recreation Area allows nudity on Land’s End Beach and North Baker Beach as long as there’s no lewd behavior and nobody complains (only out-of-towners ever do); rangers patrol, so keep an eye out if you get cuddly on the sand. Check the San Francisco Bay Guardian’s (sfbg.com) annual nude-beach reviews for more. You’ll also spot the occasional odd streaker at some parades and protests.

You’d look out of place if you were dressed while scrubbing down with salt at Kabuki Springs & Spa (opposite). Alas, bathing suits are required on coed Tuesdays.

Tourists straying down the trails and cliffs near the Cliff House are often stunned to find nude sunbathers at Lands End and Baker Beaches, in a tiny and often windy quarter-mile-long cove. Better to choose North Baker Beach, SF’s most popular nude beach. Take the 29 bus to Lincoln Blvd, turn right and take the second left onto Bowley St, a right on Gibson Rd and right again once you’re on the sand. Gay boys prefer Marshall’s Beach
