It’s not unusual to have radio emissions from space. They’ve just never been detected coming from the center of our Milky Way. Usually a galactic center emits radio waves after its black hole has consumed a large meal of matter. What’s causing the emissions from the Milky Way is presently unknown.

Maybe the heart of the galaxy, Hunab K’u, is preparing for a life-creating emission. Maybe this is the event the Maya were portending.

Involvement of the Pleiades

There will be two solar eclipses in 2012 that involve the Pleiades. The first eclipse will occur on May 20 when the sun and moon conjunct Pleiades. Interestingly, the second solar eclipse on November 13 will conjunct the sun, the moon, and the constellation Serpens, or the serpent. The placement of these two alignments is referred to as the “serpent that ate its own tail,” or the infinity sign.

Pleiades and Chichen Itza

Remember the Pyramid of Kukulkan at Chichen Itza from Chapter 3? On the spring equinox, the shadows cascade down the north balustrade like a serpent descending the pyramid. At the base of the stairs, the shadow meets its head in the huge plumed serpent sculpture. This represents the return of Kukulkan or Quetzalcoatl. It also heralds the return of the zenith sun on May 20, the date of the zenith passage over Chichen Itza. In 2012, the zenith passage of the sun coincides with a solar eclipse that conjuncts the Pleiades. For the Maya, this alignment opens the door for the return of Quetzalcoatl energy.

def• i•ni•tion

Conjunction is a term used in positional astronomy and astrology for when two celestial bodies appear near one another in the sky. It’s another term for alignment.

Photon Belt Hypothesis

Following right along with the Pleiades is the photon belt (see Chapter 6). As we align with the galactic equator, we’re moving into a densely populated part of the galaxy. There are more suns, more solar systems, and more space debris. If you subscribe to the photon belt theory, there are also more photons.

If you remember, the photon belt is traveling through space and will engage earth in 2012. Followers of this theory believe that this engagement will be apocalyptic, resulting in the interruption of electricity and causing social upheaval. Or it will initiate a spiritual transformation. Which occurs will depend on the state of mankind’s spiritual receptivity.

This theory was popularized in an article republished in 1991 by Nexus magazine, an Australian publication. It was originally published in 1987 by the Australian UFO Magazine. In the Nexus article, “The Photon Belt Story,” it was claimed the earth would go through this belt in July 1992. When this clearly did not happen, the date was changed and now we’re to go through the photon belt in 2012. Although the photon belt has not been detected with instruments, proponents claim that its effects can be observed through its interactions with our sun. Plasma particles in the sun’s heliosphere become excited in the presence of highly charged particles. Russian scientists have reported seeing “excited plasma energy” in the heliosphere, indicating to believers of the photon belt that we’re starting our movement through the belt, or some other energy source.

def•i•ni•tion

The heliosphere is an immense magnetic bubble emanating from the sun’s magnetic field surrounding our solar system. It extends well beyond the orbit of Pluto.

In keeping with Mayan belief about energy, as energy particles interact with the sun they charge the sun’s energy pathways. This in turn is transmitted to the planets, increasing the energy throughout the solar system.

The Venus Appearance in 2012

Venus, too, will make a grand appearance during 2012. The second half of this infrequent transit will occur on June 5-6, 2012. These transits happen in pairs eight years apart. The 2012 transit is the second transit; the first appeared on June 8, 2004. The 2012 transit will occur directly through the center of the sun over a period of eight hours.

2012 will also see a conjunction between
