The Herbal Medicine-Maker's Handbook_ A Home Manual - James Green [180]
“It is important to note that the use of medicine is appropriate not only to help alleviate or prevent disease, but also when one feels it necessary to use an ally to assist in creating whatever is desired. Therefore, plants, prayer, foods, chants, minerals, the company or touch of another being, potions, ritual, music, incantations, charms, amulets, icons, fetishes, and all other manifestations a person strongly believes in can be utilized as good and powerful medicine.” Chiron paused for a moment, then added, “I define the term ‘good’ as ‘that which one wants.’
“Yet ever bear in mind that ‘medicine’ is simply a tool, a means to facilitate the clearing of a pathway in a person’s life journey to whatever experience he or she wants. Medicine is not the creator of one’s life experience; it is not the walker on the path, nor is it the healer. The human being is the walker; the human being is the creator, the self-healer.”
Chiron paused, allowing for comments that might come forth; he looked to the individuals in the circle, and as no one spoke, he continued,
“I have found it most important to understand that during those times in one’s life when illness is experienced, medicine does not ‘fix’ a person, simply because he or she is not broken. Human beings do not weaken, nor are they fragmented by their life experiences. One is never less than a perfectly whole being, regardless of the extent of his or her experience of dis-ease. As a human being travels in his life’s infinitely varied experiences, his true nature flows forever undivided. Freedom, joy, radiant health, youthful vitality, passionate enthusiasm, abundant prosperity, creativity, and growth are—ever accessible—core components of each individuals whole self. These components, even when resisted, are never forfeited by one’s temporary experience of the lack of any of them. They are perpetual qualities of one’s ever-perfect spirit, one’s true self.” Chiron smiled joyfully to his friends, “Babies, young children, and playful adults demonstrate this reality each moment of their day … for they do not resist it. They are profound teachers.”
A young woman motioned to Chiron that she had a question. Chiron was pleased and nodded to her. “Chiron, if feeling good, perfect health, and vitality are indeed our true and natural state of being, what then is the experience of disease and physical deterioration? If freedom is a basic component of human nature, why would one choose to feel bad; why do human beings ever diminish themselves by choosing illness and physical degeneration?”
Chiron listened closely to his student’s words. “These are excellent questions, young Ceres, questions that reach to the very heart of each person’s journey within this grand physical domain. Thank you, I will clarify my perspective on this. As I said a moment ago, humans are creators. This is the dynamic essence of our beings; and within this vast physical realm, everything is possible. There are no limits to what an incarnated spirit can manifest within any of his or her physical life experiences.
“On this planet, Earth, we live in an abundant arena of contrasts and differences from which we can compare one thing to another, one experience to another, and, from this infinite array of choices, decide precisely what we want.
“As you can see, this dense physical realm is a magnificent, inspiring environment for us creators to direct the creative energy that is summoned by our desires, and therein relish the exuberant feelings of this life force flowing through our being.
