UPCYCLING, RECYCLING, AND WASTE MANAGEMENT
Mesh organizations aim to extend the useful life of products and reduce waste in landfills by facilitating material exchanges among individuals and businesses. They also decrease raw material resource demand by offering creative recycling services, including airport trolley upcycling, electronic and commercial waste recycling, and more.
Reduce, reuse, recycle: The concept has been around for years, but new incentives for recycling are anything but old school. Take RecycleBank. It’s a rewards and loyalty program that issues RecycleBank points to reward households for their recycling efforts. The company helps municipalities and haulers track the amount of recyclables collected each week, and then rewards points to households based on the weight of their recycled materials. RecycleBank points can be redeemed at over 1,500 local and national businesses that support recycling, including Kashi Company, Ikea, Coca-Cola Company, Nature Made, and Home Depot. Today, RecycleBank serves over one million people in twenty states across the United States. That number will likely explode when RecycleBank goes global: the service plans to launch in Europe this summer.

Acknowledgments
I have always known that the people who surround me, who share themselves and their inspirations, concerns, and fears in genuine ways are truly treasures. The creation of this book has called on me in entirely new ways than any other project I’ve undertaken previously, and no one has been more unstoppably generous, wise, honest, and wonderfully present than my dear friend Seth Godin. You are a dear, brilliant, bald, and spectacular gift. Thank you in all ways, always.
This being my first book (yes, presumptuous), I was again graced with a talented team of characters to flesh out, refine, develop, and design all things Mesh related. Led
