do more than they might initially do. Then create a series of one-page promotional pieces that take on each case. Again, make sure each piece focuses on them, not you, and tells them why, not how. Use color. Use graphics if you can for each promotional piece. But if that’s not practical, you can make a great promo piece with a large headline. This has a good headline and “curiosity-driven” copy, lots of teasers, and enough information to make you want more. And this does focus on me, because, in this case, I’m the “celebrity” trainer, but the copy has a heavy focus on the prospect as well, giving a lot of promises.

You should have a dozen or so pieces like this with a good headline, good focus on the benefits to your prospects, and a call to action.

Marketing Weapon 4: Public Relations

What is public relations? You are doing PR work when you throw splashy events such as trade show parties and benefits for your clients. PR also includes press releases, building relationships with the press, getting articles written by or about you, and affiliating with strong forces that can help you, such as trade associations and community groups. Most companies don’t have a cohesive, highly effective public relations effort; yet, it can work miracles for building your fame even if you are a very small company. This is especially true today with the prominence of the Internet.

As I mentioned, we have more than a dozen reports that we use as promotional pieces for our email list. Well, we also use those reports as articles and have our PR firm place those articles every where. In any given month, an article written by me will appear in more than 100 Web site ezines.
