Acknowledgments

Virtually anyone I could thank is probably contained somewhere within the pages of this book, either a sign that I know some of the coolest people around, or that people who like vamps are generally the coolest people around.

That said, to my friends and family, wow, you put up with a lot. Thanks for loving me. But you have some catching up to do because I love you even more.

To the peeps at ECW, especially Jack David and my editor Jen Hale, thanks for taking a chance and continuing to publish upstarts like me, people who love this stuff as much as you. (Which is saying something, ’cause you mad crazy for it!) Also a big holla to Crissy and Jen K who love vamps, personally and professionally. And to the publicity team, notably Simon, who is going learn more about vampires than he ever deemed possible.

To Lola, here’s to our next scary movie, and the hope that I won’t swear through the whole damn thing.

D, I will concede that that quip you made about switching to plastic cutlery so it wouldn’t scrape the plates was pretty damn funny. I’m sorry I surgically removed your pores as you slept — the thunderous sound of perspiration a constant distraction. All that to say that, shucks, I like you just fine.

A special note to the fan bloggers and podcasters. You know what you do is special, but that you do it with such earnest passion, regularity, and professionalism deserves a rousing round of applause, high fives (up high), back slaps, and butt pats. Because, believe me, you saved this writer’s life on more than a few occasions. If I ever wasn’t sure about something, I knew where to turn for confirmation, putting you at the top of my search engine list. That’s right; you trumped Google. I owe you a debt of gratitude. Whenever you want me, I’ll be here.

A very, very special thank you to the Twitter True Blood players and @Sookie BonTemps. When I first approached you, you didn’t know me from a hole in the wall. Thanks for letting all us strangers in.

Finally, a big head butt to Rudy and the longest game of Tortilla Tie Tag your little kitty heart could hope for. You were by my side for at least 85,000 of these words, written three times over. For all you know, I was just sitting there, but, I thought you should know, you kept me sane, occasionally providing lumbar support.
