When Ghosts Speak - Mary Ann Winkowski [97]
I simply stared at her. I couldn’t believe what she had done. Instead of a meek ghost who would have gone calmly into the Light, I now had to deal with a puffed-up spirit on a power trip. It definitely took some work on my part, but the ghost finally agreed to leave. Not before telling me, however, that the night of the séance was the most fun he’d had since he was earthbound.
Protecting Yourself from Earthbound Spirits
There are several simple things you can do to help protect yourself from the effects of earthbound spirits and negative energies. If earthbound spirits have just followed you home and have been in your house for only a short while, these techniques may be all you need to get them to leave for good. If the ghosts were in the house before you were or have been there for some time, the following items and rituals may not drive them away for good, but they may weaken spirits’ energy and provide temporary relief from the negative energy they can create. There is no harm in following any of these recommendations; in fact, they may be all you need to improve your health, mental energy, and environment.
White Light
Everyone can and should learn how to create the white Light of protection. People who practice metaphysical arts, who work with energy-based healing such as Reiki, or even those who meditate or do yoga are usually familiar with using white Light in their practices to help them feel protected, promote healing, and bring focus.
Even for me, the white Light is not simply a way to release earthbound spirits. I visualize a protective white Light around myself and around my family whenever we travel. I use white Light for extra protection when I enter a hospital or undergo medical procedures. The universe provides this positive energy, and everyone should learn to access and use it. Being able to visualize and send white Light to someone is similar to sending a prayer or a good thought in their direction.
Accessing white Light is as simple as visualizing it. When I first noticed the white Light around an earthbound spirit, it reminded me of the intensely bright lights atop my parents’ old home movie camera. I suppose the analogy would be to the flash on any of today’s cameras. My grandmother used the setting sun to teach me how to make the Light. The point is that the Light is incredibly bright, but you are able to look into it.
If you have trouble visualizing such a pure, bright light, try this simple exercise: Light a candle and stare at the flame. Focus on the hottest part of the flame, closest to the base of the wick. Now shift your gaze from the flame to a blank wall and imagine you can see the flame as a spot on that wall. Look back at the candle and concentrate again on the flame; then turn to the wall and imagine the same spot of brightness. Repeat this exercise until you can see a bright white spot on the wall. When you are comfortable visualizing this small spot of Light, begin to visualize it growing bigger. There is no need to try to increase the brightness as you make the Light larger.
Once you are comfortable creating this white Light, you can then imagine it surrounding you or anyone you want to protect. You can mentally send it to people who are far away by thinking of them as you concentrate on the Light. If you do healing work—whether conventional or alternative—you should always protect yourself with this white Light to avoid attracting any negative energy from your patients.
Sea Salt
One of the most effective ways to remove negative energy and weaken the attachment of an earthbound spirit to an object is to cleanse the object with sea salt. If you are an avid tag-sale or yard-sale shopper or love to buy or collect antiques, be sure to carry a container of sea salt when you go shopping. Before putting an item in your car, sprinkle it with sea salt. There’s no need to make it look like a beach. A little goes a long way!
People who work in places where they have a high likelihood of bringing ghosts home with them should add a handful of
