2600 Magazine_ The Hacker Quarterly - Digital Edition - Summer 2011 - 2600 Magazine [73]
Hey there!
I just wanted to give my input on the Kindle edition. Mostly, I wanted to share that 2600 is the best magazine I've found on this thing, with all articles at least having all of their content. (Yes, there are magazines which try to charge more and only provide stub articles, including one "100 best" article which only had an introduction, without even one of the items on the list coming through!)
I'd also like to join the crowd thanking you for offering the Kindle subscription, though in my case the reason is twofold: before browsing the "Internet and Technology" category of magazines, I'd never even heard of The Hacker Quarterly. I picked it up with my free 14-day trial and am happy to say I'll definitely be holding onto it, so thank you both for introducing me to, and offering, a quality magazine at a great value!
I noticed in your last e-feedback section there were a lot of suggestions for things like removing DRM, iPad support, and lifetime subscriptions, not to mention the horrors of Amazon's pricing scheme. While I like how it works out for me as a customer, it's remarkably unfair to not give you, the content provider, the chance to set your prices and then still threaten reduced payment if the price is off. Please, let me (and your other readers) know what we can do to help! A form letter (or e-mail) that we can send out en masse might be a decent idea, or even just a summary of all the things that could use some changing so that we can write our own personal letters. If there are any specific buzzwords that might ensure Amazon knows what specifically we're referring to, that could also help.
Thanks for all you do!

We think politely worded letters to those in charge would be helpful. The thing is, it's almost impossible to say where those letters should go as it's really hard to speak with actual people when there are problems. That said, we know the people at Amazon are fairly new at the magazine subscription thing and they're genuinely trying to make things work. We don't want to be overly harsh with them as we're all experiencing these things for the first time. But we do need to be firm in what is acceptable and what is not, at least from our perspective. Control of content by the publishers is vital, the ability to disable DRM is paramount, means of defining pricing structure and compatibility between all devices and platforms is nothing short of crucial if this means of publishing is going to become successful. In these early days, our readers can really help shape the landscape, based on what works for them.
Hello,
I am happy that 2600 is available on the Kindle. I wonder if it is possible for the magazine to come in full color so that I could view it on my computer (the Amazon for PC application) and get the full effect of the photos.
Thank you,
Eden
Definitely something to ask the Amazon people about implementing.
I'm really loving having 2600 on my Kindle, but I do have one discrepancy. To subscribe to it, I have to shell out one dollar every month. It's kind of pathetic and annoying. I love the price. The price is fine, I would even pay
double (and I do by buying them individually as soon as they come out). I think a much better way to do it would be to charge $12 every year, but I don't blame you, I blame Amazon. It still won't stop me from reading it though.

We would certainly like to get the full subscription price up front as we do for the paper issue, but this is not our call. It's just Amazon's way of keeping us from spending it all on something crazy.
Hey guys, love the show and the magazine, but I had some input as to getting it on the other platforms. Now I dont know if you know this, because I didn't till I just got my iPad 2, but there is actually a Kindle app for the iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, and many other mobile platforms. The app
