Ghosts Among Us - James Van Praagh [34]
Child Guides
Whenever I see spirit children, I know that they are on a very special mission. Many years ago, before I began my readings, I worked temporarily at Midway Hospital in Los Angeles as a clerk in the personnel department. I loved the job because my boss, Margaret Morgan, was a wonderful person. We would often joke around to make the day go by. One day Margaret asked me to bring some papers to the fourth-floor nursing station. I got into the elevator and pushed the fourth-floor button. For some reason, the elevator opened on the third floor. No one was around. Curious to see a floor I had never been on, I got off the elevator and walked down the main hallway. Halfway down, I noticed a group of laughing children enter one of the rooms. How odd, I thought, for children to be walking around a hospital floor. I wondered if I was on the children’s ward. I followed the children down the hall, peeking into each room on my way. I realized that it was not the children’s ward at all. All the occupants were elderly patients on the final leg of their journey. Most of them were hooked up to oxygen tanks and other lifesaving machines.
I stopped outside the room where the children had entered and looked in. An old woman struggled for breath, and the sound of her death rattle filled the room. The children reached out toward her with hands of golden light. It struck me that these children were spirit guides ready to assist the old woman out of the physical plane. I turned and walked back toward the elevators. I sat down at the end of the hallway and stared at the floor, trying to digest the thoughts that flooded my mind. Suddenly a high-pitched beep went off. Nurses, seemingly out of nowhere, rushed into the old woman’s room. I knew that she was gone.
Children are indeed God’s little angels. Many are exalted spiritual teachers who bring their energy of joy and amusement to earthly souls who have lost their own innocence and truth. Child guides help us to remember the fun of life and to keep our hearts and minds open to our blessings.
Angels
Angels are spiritual messengers and instruments of divine guidance, inspiration, and protection. Some of these divine beings have very specific work and are part of various kingdoms or specific realms, such as the Counselor realm, made up of Seraphim, Cherubim, and Thrones. The heavenly governors make up the second realm of Dominions, Virtues, and Powers, and the third realm consists of Principalities, Archangels, and Angels.
Although I do not see angels very frequently, I have called on the angelic kingdoms whenever I feel a need for some extra help. They have never let me down and have taught me valuable lessons in humility and faith.
I was in New York on a publicity tour for a television movie I had produced entitled The Dead Will Tell, starring Eva Longoria and Anne Heche. Somehow I had agreed to be a guest on Howard Stern’s radio show. Although I had been invited on the show several times in the past, I always shied away. I knew that Howard was a stubborn skeptic of the paranormal, and I didn’t want to endure his ridicule. Ironically, I had felt a kinship with Howard. He had bucked the establishment and stayed true to himself, and I applaud anyone who prods others to question the norm while enduring public disapproval. Howard certainly did and continues to do it his way.
I was up at five in the morning, somewhat apprehensive and having second thoughts about going on the show. It was a good time to meditate. I asked my guides for divine protection. Immediately, a beautiful being with blond hair and blue eyes appeared. He wore a white tunic and purple robe with a golden sword strapped to his chest. I knew instantly that I was in the presence of the Archangel Michael. With one quick, downward stroke of his sword, I heard the words, You are protected. I opened my eyes and smiled. My fears had dissipated, and I headed out the door for the studio.
The moment I arrived I could see Howard standing at the coffee machine. He looked gargantuan, as if he were seven feet
