Ghosts Among Us - James Van Praagh [55]

the very same area doing a workshop. I drove by the old mansion. The place was completely fenced off, but I could see the house from a distance. As I was looking at it, I had the feeling that the place was still not free of ghostly activity. It just didn’t feel clean. A neighbor walked over to me to inquire about my curiosity.

“I used to go here when I was in high school.”

“You’re not the first one,” he replied. “Many of the former students have come back here to look at the old place, just to see if it’s still standing.”

“What do they think?” I asked.

“They all have a strange reaction when they look over there. Some loved it, and others would never step foot in there again.”

The neighbor walked away.

I got back in my car and drove away. My only hope was that one day the ghosts haunting there would cross over into the light and find peace.

WHAT IS A HAUNTING?

My experience in the seminary is a perfect example of ghosts haunting a familiar place. In my opinion, most places are haunted in one way or another. We may not be aware of the various entities that travel alongside us, but ghosts can freely roam anywhere they choose because, as I have said, they are not limited by the physical dimension. They don’t need any form of transportation to get from one place to another because they travel by thought. In the astral realms, everything is sharper and clearer, and a ghost’s memories are very vivid.

A haunted place is any area with a high concentration of ghostly activity that lasts over a prolonged period of time. Based on my investigations, I have found that these places have a strong emotional tie for the ghost. Like the seminary that was haunted by its past occupants, there are very strong mental and emotional memories associated with the place, and the ghosts either want to somehow relive these memories or cannot stop reliving them. That is when ghosts cause disturbances in the energy. On the other hand, ghosts may just want to watch over a place and make sure the new occupants respect their home and take care of it the way they once did.

DESILU STUDIOS

It is quite common for ghosts to haunt their previous work environments. I have personally communicated with many ghosts who liked their work so much and spent so much of their time and energy at work that they often went back to visit. One of the most famous ghosts who still hangs out at her place of work is Lucille Ball. She has communicated with me on two separate occasions. The first time I met Lucy was during a segment for CBS’s Entertainment Tonight. I hosted a tour around the Paramount Studios lot to locate ghosts from Hollywood’s past heyday. Several famous ghosts did make themselves known, but none as famous as the comic redhead herself.

Lucille Ball told me, I was working all the time and missed my kids. She decided to make the Desilu studios “kid-friendly” and let the employees bring their children to work. Because of her clout, Lucy was the first to create a day care center in a studio. She also told me, I would plan picnics and parties all the time for the employees and their kids. It was the mother in me. As she spoke, I communicated our conversation to the camera. Then Lucy pointed in the direction of her personal apartment.

Come on, I’ll show you, she said.

The crew and I walked toward a building that presently housed a TV production company. The office assistant behind a desk looked startled to see the camera guys and soundman invading the entrance.

“Hi,” I said, shaking his hand. “We’re doing a piece for Entertainment Tonight.”

As the cameraman took shots of the area, I told the assistant, “I’m a medium, and I am communicating with the ghost of Lucille Ball. She is telling me that she had a room in the back. She would go back there and lie down on the couch. Do you know what I mean?”

Shocked, the young kid replied, “Ah, yes. That was Lucy’s private living room, and she supposedly used to go back there and rest.”

Lucy made it very clear to me: I’m not resting anymore. I told the office worker, “You know, Lucy comes around all the time.
