Mui Wo
You’ll find a slew of restaurants, noodle shops and bars to the southwest of the ferry pier. There are also some restaurants on the way to Silvermine Bay Beach and on the beach itself. There’s a ferry service from Pier 6 in front of Exchange Square.

‘The Garden’ might be a somewhat ambitious name for this small eatery, but it has all our Turkish favourites, including sigara böreǧi (filo parcels filled with cheese) and yaprak dolmasi (stuffed vine leaves).

Lantau residents have been coming for years to this modest joint for its excellent Vietnamese-style noodles flavoured with lemon grass. They’re best consumed with ice-cold bottled Coke.
Mui Wo Cooked Food Centre Map Chinese $
Just off the Mui Wo ferry pier to your right, there’s a cooked food centre with a couple of stalls selling dim dum from 6am till late afternoon, where you need to get your own food from the kitchen counter. There are also a few seafood restaurants that open from afternoon till midnight with tables facing the sea.

At this family-run eatery, you can munch on fresh, affordable seafood (from $55) while being entertained by the felines-in-residence.
Discovery Bay
The restaurants in the circular plaza opposite the ferry pier at Discovery Bay ( Map) offer a wide variety of cuisines. There’s a ferry service from Pier 3 in front of Exchange Square.

It may not feel exactly like Havana here, but when the weather is clear, this beachfront restaurant makes for a great escape. You can even see the fireworks going off in Disneyland every evening from 8.30pm. Try the signature burger ($105) and the mojito ($72).
South Lantau Road
Cheung Sha and Tung Fuk, two of the villages along South Lantau Rd, Lantau’s main east–west thoroughfare, have decent restaurants from which to choose.

This restaurant, on a terrace with an arbour overlooking South Lantau Rd, has great Mediterranean and Turkish dishes and a decent barbecue. Oven-baked thin-crust pizzas (from $85) are another must-try.

This Mediterranean-style restaurant with a huge terrace that’s located right on Lower Cheung Sha Beach has acceptable meat and fish dishes and a South African braai (barbecue; $90 to $150). Be sure to book on the weekend.
Ngong Ping
An artificial Chinese village has been built alongside Ngong Ping Skyrail, featuring a range of casual dining options that include noodle joints, fusion restaurants, Starbucks as well as a branch of Honeymoon Dessert ( Map; see also Click here). For some no-frills vegetarian treats, the Po Lin Monastery is only a short walk away.

This famous monastery Click here has a reputation for inexpensive but substantial vege-tarian food. The restaurant is located in the covered arcade to the left of the main monastery building. Buy your ticket there or at the ticket office below the Tian Tan Buddha statue. Sittings take place every half-hour.
