__________

* The last four beliefs come from workshops with Stephen Wolinsky.

__________

*The idea behind dowsing, or water witching, is to locate underground water using a divining rod, which can be a forked stick or two wires, one held in each hand. You set an intention—I want to find a clear well—then walk through an area with a forked stick or two bent wires until the wires cross or the forked stick pulls downward when you are over the well. It is an age-old skill in which the person holding the divining rod becomes part of an electromagnetic field combining mental intention, mind, and the sought-after water.
