Meandering Mind - Eva Dillner [43]
When I had explained to the Play with Possibilities group the intention to paint our wish under silence, the Vedic Art teacher in our group clarified that the intention I had so eloquently described was principle #6, if I remember correctly. I thought, “oh is that what it is? Here I have been painting this process for four years and I still don't have the principles straight.” Does it matter? No, when you paint intuitively, you don't need the one, two, three, etc. The steps are there to help you achieve the I am state.
I'm reminded of a chiropractor I used to see. He did beautiful drawings and etchings. He had started with an instruction book with step-by-step exercises. First he was to draw an egg shape. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't for the life of him draw an egg. Before he pitched the book in the trashcan, he flipped through the rest of the book. On the last page was an exercise to draw an old man, with beard and wrinkles. He thought, “I could do that!” And proceeded to draw the old man, just like in the book. He was a natural artist. Which brings up the question, how do you teach creativity?
I believe you teach it by doing. What has been helpful both with toning and painting is doing it in group with other people of varying skill levels. We learn from each other, techniques and approaches, and we support each other in the growth process.
Then I thought, I wonder if my painting is like my toning. I've been doing it for fun, but maybe it is what I am to teach. Because I would teach painting like toning. Your body knows how to do this. I'll help you let go and set the stage so you can be free and creative. Out of all this a new course idea was born.
New Course - Paint without Purpose
with Eva Dillner
We'll explore intuitive painting where there is no goal, no agenda, no expectation of a finished product. There are no techniques to learn, no right or wrong way to do this. Bring your curiosity and your art supplies.
It doesn't matter if you use crayons, pastels, acrylics or watercolors nor what size your canvas is. This course is about playful exploration of who you are inside. No previous experience necessary.
To facilitate the process we may meditate, tone, dance and philosophize as befits the group
By letting go of the attachment to an outcome, by being present and willing to explore, we can unearth hidden aspects of ourselves. When we relax and let go anything can happen.
How many times have you chewed and stewed over a problem only to have the solution drop in when you least expected it?
The writing of this book has taken priority and I'm not sure this course will ever happen, but if you don't try out new ideas nothing will ever get off the ground.

PAGIC, like magic
Bet you've never heard of pagic. I hadn't either until a friend of mine helped me form the acronym. Pagic is pronounced like magic. It stands for
Planning
Analysis
Growth
Interaction
Creativity
These are the ingredients I need in a job to be satisfied. I had worked at the Everett plant for over ten years. I had worked my way through the interesting jobs in engineering and logistics/procurement and realized that what I really wanted, was to work internationally. One friend said, “that's the most sensible idea you have come up with so far.” To him, that made more sense than anything else I had been considering. I had also had an affair with this guy, so you could say he knew me pretty well.
I went to see my friend in personnel. He laughed and told me, “sure, when I'm Manager of International HR! Eva, you can't get there from here. You have to go to corporate headquarters first and network there, then you can go overseas.”
Not to be daunted, I had to go ponder what I might want to do at corporate headquarters
