have creates an effect. In its most basic form, when you think fearful thoughts your shoulders tighten, your stomach produces acid, you feel stressed. Your thought has created a physical reaction. What you think changes your behavior, too. Your fearful thoughts affect how you treat people and in return how they treat you. Your body language, word use, choices, and energy transmission all reflect your fear. This affects whether you get the job or the raise, or attract the right relationship.

In the world of metaphysics, what you think creates the experiences you have. Your thoughts act like magnets attracting people and events into your life. Like attracts like and your fear brings toward you what you’re afraid of. Limiting emotions come from deeply held and often unconscious attitudes and beliefs. Now is the time to explore what they are and change the ones that don’t serve your higher good.

Changing Attitudes

With time acceleration, each of us has to choose our thoughts wisely. There’s no time to counteract the effects of bad thinking. What you think returns as fast as you think it. This is a great time to start using your mind to manifest better conditions for yourself. You can start with a vision board, affirmations, and energy-building exercises. We’ll show you how in Chapter 21.

Equally, it’s time to ferret out the beliefs and attitudes that hold you to old ways of thinking. This is a powerful time to change those patterns! Again, we’ll give you tips in Chapter 21, but right now, practice consciously choosing the thoughts you have, right at this moment. Your thoughts aren’t random; they’re a choice. Ask yourself whether the thought you’re having this minute helps you or hinders you. Does it add something positive to the world? If you don’t like the answer, choose a different thought!

Codex Cues

There are many great books on the power of positive thinking. Here are three favorites. The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovil Shinn (bnpublishing.com, 2007) is a classic! Originally published in 1925, it has inspired millions of readers. A more recent and equally excellent book is Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting: The Astonishing Power of Feelings by Lynn Grabhorn (Hampton Roads Publishing, 2003). The most recent and hugely popular book is Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose (Penguin, 2008).

Heading Toward 2012

Even positive change brings unexpected difficulties. Remember when you got that promotion you were after and suddenly your co-workers were less friendly; or you finally bought your dream house and your friends said bad things about it?

As you change with the new energies coming in and begin to access deeper parts of yourself, your identity may change. This can put you at odds with different aspects of your life. On the other hand, as you live by your inner light and work toward harmony, you may find unexpected changes in your friends and family, or people you have overlooked in the past suddenly come popping out of the woodwork.

Who Are You?

Your identity is based on many things. It’s based on your beliefs about the universe, spirituality, and religions—who you are in the spiritual world. It’s based on how you have behaved in the past, what your failings and successes have been. It’s based on the expectations of your family and how well you’ve lived up to them. As 2012 approaches, many people are drawn to live more authentic lives that reflect their inner truth. Maybe in the past you saw yourself as a victim and spent time with friends sharing your feelings and experiences. While there’s nothing wrong with this, when you stop feeling like a victim you may find yourself uncomfortable or even bored as the role of victim no longer reflects your new self-image.

Maybe you’ve always seen yourself as a rescuer, helping people with their problems, being the good listener and fix-it friend. Once your attitude changes, you may see people in a higher light and know they are not really broken and don’t really need to be fixed. You may become someone who empowers your
