The Complete Idiot's Guide to 2012 - Dr. Synthia Andrews Nd [54]
End of the Present Age
Every previous age ended because humans either could not or would not worship the gods. You may have laughed inside at the thought of gods so hungry for human worship. But what if this, too, is a metaphor? What if worshiping the gods means acknowledging the god force within and putting that impulse first in your choices and actions? What if, as author Michelle Small Wright asserts, we need to “behave as if the god in all life matters”?
If this age is destroyed by angry gods, is it the god within each of us who rises in anger at what we have created and what we have forgotten? And why is the world destroyed? To create another; to build on what we have learned in the evolution of consciousness. To the ancient Maya, we are on the path and the cosmic plan is unfolding as designed.
Cosmic Caution
There have been five historical mass extinctions on the planet, the dinosaurs being the most recent. They may have happened due to super volcanoes, asteroids, and major climate shifts.
Transitions are never easy. In Mayan belief, the ending of cycles is always accompanied by difficulty. At the 52-year Calendar round celebrations, people hid in their houses with all the fires out to avoid the difficulties of ending the old. Endings were traumatic; despite the record of history, the gods might not grant renewal.
Coming of the New Age
The interesting thing about the new age is that we are writing it now. If we are in the sixth age, the creation story ends with the fifth. There are no guides from the past to lead us forward.
Some say there is no creation story for the sixth world because 2012 is the end of the world. Others say it’s because we are entering a time when we become the Kukulkan and create the next stage of the story ourselves. The Chilam Balam stated that the masters of old will reincarnate at the end of the 13 baktuns to return wisdom to the land. If they are here now, are we listening? Is it possible, as some think, that the next age is outside of the four dimensions we currently live in? In that case, there is no calendar because we don’t know what time means in the fifth dimension.
The Least You Need to Know
◆ The ages of the creation story may be metaphors for the development of consciousness.
◆ The Maya knew the age of the universe and the evolutionary leaps of life on earth. This information was written on a stele at Coba.
◆ According to Carl Johan Calleman, time is accelerating as we move up the pyramid of consciousness evolution.
◆ The end times may not be the end of the world but the beginning of an age when humans evolve into higher spiritual beings.
◆ We are creating the next age with the thoughts and actions we bring into the end of this epoch.
Part 3
Predications of 2012
2012 is not about the world ending, it’s about the world changing. You won’t necessarily wake up and everything will be different, but everything is changing. 2012 will be the flash point; the point where enough energy has been put into the system to ensure ignition.
What will this be like? To know the answer to that, we need to look at the actual written prophecies of the Maya, the katuns, as well as other 2012 and end-time predictions. We also need to consider what other prophets in other times have to say, what religious systems can add to the picture, and what science and metaphysics include.
Most important, let’s remember that the future is not written in stone. We create it in each moment with every thought and every action and every word.
Chapter 9
Mayan Prophecy
In This Chapter
◆ The two sides of the Mayan prophecy
◆ What the katuns tell us
◆ What to expect in the end times
◆ Hope for the future
Whatever age you believe we’re in, whatever end date you believe to be accurate, we are clearly completing an important cycle. In both versions of how the creation story links to the precession cycle, the end of this Long Count completes a creation age. What
