QUATRAIN #1-29

When a fish (traversing) land and water

By force of waves and sand shall be thrust,

Its strange form, both wild and horrific,

This one is said to describe the twin nuclear bombs of Hiroshima:

This is when new wars arise

Many think Nostradamus saw the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Here are the quatrains that support it:

Earthshaking fire from the center of the Earth

Will cause the towers around the New City to shake:

Two great rocks will war for a long time,

And then Arethusa shall color a new river red.

The sky will burn at forty-five degrees latitude

Fire approaches the great new city

Immediately a huge, scattered flame leaps up

When they want to have verification from the Normans [French].

It all makes sense after the fact and you can see how easy it is to read what you want into the prose. Here’s one about the antichrist that has been translated to be Saddam Hussein (supporters believe that Mabus spells Sadam (actually, it’s Sudam) when held up to a mirror):

Nostradamus’s End-Time Predictions

It’s difficult to follow the quatrains because Nostradamus didn’t have his visions in historical order. They’re random and difficult to put into context. Essentially, the quatrains state that there will be a third world war. It will involve the Middle East and a nuclear weapon and come after destructive earth changes.

Nostradamus predicts that a comet will come, coinciding with earthquakes and volcanoes. Also mentioned is a conjunction of planets. Some interpret the words to describe a pole shift. In any case, the earth changes bring famines, droughts, and social upheaval. Civilization will be changed; continents will be split apart with waterways. Powerful nations will be weakened. The social upheaval will allow an antichrist to come into power precipitating World War III.

Nostradamus admonishes that people should be prepared spiritually and intellectually, and be more aware of survival abilities. This indicates that people do survive despite the odds. But what does he mean by survival skills? Would you be prepared to survive after a disaster without modern technology and power tools? Maybe we should all be thinking of how we can prepare ourselves to survive in times of crisis. We have more on this in Chapter 20.

You’ll be happy to know that after destruction, as with the Maya and Hopi prophecy, a period of great peace, union, and concord occurs.
