the way to the Emergence into the Fifth World.” Are you struck by how similar this is to the Mayan prophecy of the return of Kukulkan and the solar priests?

Codex Cues

According to a Hopi Elder, “Those who return to the ways given to us in the original teachings, and live a natural way of life will not be touched by the coming of the Purifier. They will survive and build the new world.”

There are additional prophecies about man going to the moon, meetings of the Hopis at the United Nations, and many other significant events. The Hopis warned that bringing “rocks from the moon” would create an imbalance in nature and would mark the beginning of weather changes. They believe the mission to the moon was the fulfillment of this prophecy.

The Hopi prophecy also seems to describe a pole reversal where the earth turns over several times, thus “rocking to and fro.” If there is a pole reversal in 2012, it would provide another link between the Hopi prophecy and the time frame of the Mayan prophecy.

Hope from the Hopi

The Hopi and Mayan prophecies have much in common. They warn of the end of this world due to “greed and corruption.” They also promise a period of peace after the purification when humankind returns to balance. Not only will the “Great Spirit” or “Kukulkan” return in the end times, but in both cases masters, Pahana and the solar priests, return before the end and help plant the seeds for the transitions. In both traditions, people are taught to hold to a spiritual practice and to help maintain the traditional lands. Sounds like good advice!

The Predictions of Nostradamus

Nostradamus (1503-1566) is the most famous end-time prophet. Although his prophecies are often used to support the 2012 end date, they’re not specifically linked to 2012. His predictions are written in quatrains (verses or poems of four lines that can rhyme or not rhyme) and are vague and difficult to interpret, at least before the event. Hindsight seems to be 20/20, and Nostradamus has been credited with predicting Napoleon, Hitler, World Wars I and II, and the 9/11 attacks. Still to come is a comet; natural disasters such as earthquakes, plagues, pestilence, and giant storms; another antichrist; and World War III. But take heart, this period of mass destruction is followed by a period of peace and enlightenment!

Born in France, Nostradamus was an apothecary (pharmacist) who was also a well-known astrologer and seer. His most famous book is Les Propheties, published in 1555. Since his death this book has rarely been out of print. He wrote in prose that’s ambiguous and vague yet he has drawn a large following who believe he is extremely accurate.

Vision Power

Nostradamus studied mystery school techniques for prophesying. The technique he used is called scrying, which means “to reveal.” The technique requires concentration on a shiny object, crystal ball, bowl of water, mirror, etc. until normal vision recedes and other visions are seen. Nostradamus used bowls of water. He surrounded his writing table with candles and waited with quill and ink while he gazed into the bowl.

The Maya also used this technique of scrying using smoky obsidian mirrors. In modern times, this technique has been scientifically studied by near-death and after-death researcher Dr. Raymond Moody at his research institute, the John Dee Memorial Theater of the Mind. At his institute, he has created a room of mirrors that induce an altered state conducive to perceiving paranormally.

Nostradamus had visions, which he translated into words. The problem is that many of the things he saw in the future had no words or even comprehension in his time. He wrote what he saw as best he could describe. This may explain some of the vagueness of his quatrains.

Past Prophecies

These quatrains make a lot of sense when we know the event they refer to. But if you were reading them in advance, they wouldn’t give enough information to provide warning or guidance, or be particularly useful.

Here is an example of a quatrain describing an event of World War II. Keep in mind
