The Complete Idiot's Guide to 2012 - Dr. Synthia Andrews Nd [75]
Harmonic Convergence
Argüelles picked the date for the Harmonic Convergence based on his studies into the Mayan calendars. He claimed it ended 22 Calendar Round cycles of 52 years each. He then divided the 22 cycles into 13 heaven cycles and 9 hell cycles. He claimed the heaven cycles began in 843 C.E. and ended in 1519 C.E. Then the nine hell cycles began, ending 468 years later in 1987 at the Harmonic Convergence.
In addition to beginning a new age of peace and unity, the harmonic convergence marked the 25-year countdown to the end of the Mayan calendar in 2012. The end of the calendar to Argüelles meant the end of the evils of the modern world.
Celestial Connection
The Harmonic Convergence was a worldwide peace initiative that took place on August 16 and 17, 1987. Conceived by José Argüelles, it signified the end of the nine cycles of the underworld and heralded a 25-year period of spiritual growth leading to the end of the current age in 2012. Massive numbers of people gathered at sacred sites all over the planet awakening the energy grid.
Argüelles claimed to have based his dates and theories on Mayan cosmology, but the Maya disagree. It turns out they were right, Argüelles’s work does diverge significantly from Mayan cosmology. Argüelles now claims to have channeled his information from Pacal Votan, our friend from Chapters 3 and 7. We’ll talk more about this in Chapter 13.
Argüelles’s Philosophy
José Argüelles believes that humans lost connection to natural cycles when we switched from the lunar-based calendars to the Gregorian solar calendar. We became immersed in an artificial perception of time that moved us away from the natural order of the universe. 2012 is meant to bring us back into alignment with natural time.
Argüelles proposes that losing connection to the cyclic nature of time closed down the creative, intuitive, powerful part of who we are. Using the Gregorian calendar locked people into mechanical rhythms and habitual thinking, making us slaves to time. To counteract the unnatural state of affairs, Argüelles designed the Dreamspell calendar. Using the calendar puts people back into a 13-moon/28-day rhythm. He claims that using his system will attune people to natural time, preparing them for 2012.
What Happens in 2012?
According to Argüelles, 2012 is a marker, a wake-up call in our DNA. The climax of this cycle will occur during “the seven last moons of the thirteen baktuns” or June through December 2012. If you want to avoid the difficulties of the time approaching 2012, Argüelles suggests you switch to his lunar-based calendar now, allowing your body to align with natural cycles.
He and his wife Lloydine founded the Planet Art Network in 1983 as a worldwide peace organization. It focuses on promoting the worldwide adoption of the Dreamspell 13-moon/28-day calendar. Gordon Michael Scallion
Gordon Michael Scallion became famous in the 1980s. An intuitive, Scallion calls himself a futurist. In 1979, he experienced a number of out-of-body visions that showed him what the world would look like after the turn of the century. He spent the next three years drawing a map of the new earth and writing about how to survive the earth changes that were coming. He published his map along with a book, Earthforce (Lotus Press, 1989). He travels internationally, giving lectures on earth changes to this day. You can obtain his map and current books at www.matrixinstitute.com/store.
Warning Signs
Scallion saw a number of warning signs leading up to the earth changes. He was very clear that nothing he saw was written in stone. Human intention could change the outcome at any time. What he saw was the outcome if
