Pepper

Cut off the top of the loaf right at the rim and set aside. Gut all bread out of the loaf, leaving a shell. Cover the inside and the top with a thick layer of cream cheese. Add remaining cheeses and sour cream, letting the first layer come up on all sides. Next, add layers of one of the meats, lettuce, tomato, and onion, and top with a light dripping of oil and vinegar, then sprinkle on pepper. Repeat this process using different meats with each layer until packed to the top. When the layers have reached the top of the pie, place the top of the loaf back in its original place. Cut as you would a pie.

It was Super Bowl Sunday and I knew I had to conceive a meal that would truly dazzle the eyes and blow some gourds. To me, the Super Bowl is the one event of the year that capitalizes on everything that makes America awesome. Thus the choice was clear: create an awesome combination of three gloriously fat-filled American foods—bacon, pizza and hamburgers!

Acknowledgments

In no particular order…

Jessica would like to thank: my partner/roommate/boyfriend, Richard, for being a positive force in getting this site off the ground, creating killer design ideas and for knowing when to let his strong-willed (and usually right!) partner get her way.

I’d also like to thank our literary agent, Daniel Greenberg, and all of our contributors and fans who have made the site—and this book—everything it is.

A very special thanks goes to our intern and friend, Whitney Jefferson, for her endless help and loose interpretation of “regular work hours.”

Thank you to Diana Levine for making us look hip and skinny.

Many thanks to David Karp and the Tumblr team for hosting our blog, and greeting our suggested account features/customizations with the same openness as our video-rap performances.
