Vixen Manual - Karrine Steffans [52]
Ladies, there’s nothing wrong with wanting a partner in life who can support you and your children, a man who has enough money and resources to allow you to live well under normal conditions and in the event of an emergency. I prefer having a man who can support me, my son, himself, and his own family (such as his parents as they get older). I also prefer, however, to be able to be the exact same thing myself. I want a man who can take over in a crisis, financial or otherwise, but what if something happens to him and his assets? Then I need to be able to take care of us and keep up the standards of the life to which we have grown accustomed. If I am a liability, I cannot do that. My whole life will be dependent upon him. When he suffers, then so do we all.

Vixen Tip
If you are in a situation where you are feeling trapped and disrespected because you have not contributed to your household in a way that demands respect, it is time to decide what and who you are. It is very possible to have other interests and still be an effective wife and mother. Women do it all the time. The biggest part of being and doing it all is the organization of your thoughts. What have you always been interested in? Are there classes that can help you get the education you’ll need to start or continue your career? There are countless online college courses than can be accessed from your home. With a bit of organization, you can easily set aside time to focus on that goal. Once you have decided what field you are interested in, research people who have done what you wish to do. It sounds simple. That’s because it is. Find motivation in the stories of those who have come before you. Don’t be afraid to follow in their footsteps. There is a world of information out there for you. You can find anything you need to know on the Internet with just a few keywords typed into any search engine. If you don’t have access to the Internet at home, use a friend’s computer, or head over to your local library and use one of theirs for free. Teach yourself things that you have never thought of learning. Keep abreast of current events and trends by subscribing to a national newspaper or other types of periodicals. If you can’t afford a subscription, most newspapers are online for free. If you can access the Internet, you can read the news of almost every newspaper in the world daily, ensuring you’re knowledgeable about current events and constantly expanding your mind. Read books on anything and everything that interests you. The information is out there, right at your fingertips. You’re just a few keystrokes, books, and articles away from learning how to create the life and the lifestyle you wish.

When I realized that I wanted a better quality of life, I paid close attention to what other successful people did to get where they are. I wanted to know what they knew, especially those who created something out of dreams and pure ambition. I spent hours on end watching lifestyle shows that depicted the places these people would go and the homes they lived in. Maybe I would never be able to live the extravagant lives they live, I reasoned, but then again… maybe I would. I just wanted to know what was out there and do my best to work toward achieving it for myself. Even if I didn’t get close to having a summer home in San Tropez and a winter cabin in Aspen, at least I’d get far enough away from where I started. Dream big, set goals, and stick with them.
