Ghosts Among Us - James Van Praagh [38]
“Really?” I replied.
“Yes, I could feel a lot of bad energy.”
Then I told him what I had seen and how I had felt.
“That’s what I felt too,” Peter confirmed.
When we thought about it later, Peter, Ann, and I realized that the shoe store wasn’t all that great, nor were the prices. Maybe Peter was right. Maybe there was something more in the back room besides shoes.
As we continued down the street, I suggested that we all do a certain exercise to eliminate whatever we might have picked up in the shoe store. Peter and Ann were only too happy to get rid of anything foreboding that might have attached to them. I had them imagine magnets attached to the soles of their feet. The magnets could pull any heavy, dark energy out of their bodies, through their feet, and straight into the earth. In the earth, this dark energy would be absorbed and neutralized. After this simple exercise, we all felt a little bit lighter and greatly relieved.
THE BODY’S ENERGY SYSTEM
By now, you are beginning to get the gist of what energy is and how we can sense it. I also want you to be aware of the energy system that works in the body itself. This energy is very akin to the motherboard or hard drive of a computer. Your body’s energy system is made up of the energy that flows up and down your spine to various centers of your body. Each of these centers is a generator for a different part of the body. When there is a break in the flow of this energy through emotional, mental, or physical trauma, the energy will often decrease or get stuck. A lack of this vital force may later become an abnormality such as pain, discomfort, or disease. It’s important to familiarize yourself with the body’s energy-generating system, known as the seven main chakras or psychic centers. Each chakra spins like a swirling ball of colored light and corresponds to various parts of ourselves.
At the base of the spine is the first chakra, the root chakra. Being the energy closest to the earth, it is red, the color of earth. This chakra has to do with our survival instinct and basic physical needs. When we concentrate on the root chakra, we can pull the energy of the earth up through this center to give ourselves strength and vitality.
The next center is the sacral chakra, located two inches below the belly button around our pelvis. This area is our intuitive center. Because it is associated with our feelings and raw emotions, it is a source of clairsentience, or “clear feeling.” It is associated with the color orange. Physically, this center corresponds to our sexual organs, spleen, and bladder and can be an emotional storage area for hurts.
The third chakra is about two inches above the navel in our solar plexus. This is where emotions are more refined. This chakra has to do with will and a sense of self. On the physical level, this chakra is associated with our stomach and digestion. It is also the emotional storage area for anger and repression. This yellow-colored chakra connects to the silver cord that tethers us to our bodies. When we sleep and dream, or astral-travel, we do so in our etheric bodies and are connected to our physical bodies through this silver cord. When we die, this cord snaps, our physical bodies die, and our spiritual bodies are free to move on.
Higher energy starts at the heart chakra. This center vibrates to the color green. Located in the center of the chest, it is associated with the heart, the thymus, and blood circulation. This is the center of love, compassion, trust, giving, receiving, and nurturing. When the heart chakra is blocked, a person may feel a lack of love for himself and others.
The throat chakra vibrates in the color blue and is located in the neck area. Through this chakra, along with the solar plexus and spleen chakras, mediums can hear the voices of ghosts, and ghosts can speak through channels with their actual voices. Physically, this is the center of our creative expression, our voice, throat, mouth, thyroid, and hypothalamus. Emotional problems that
