The Vacant Throne - Ed Greenwood [175]
FAULKRON, RUSTAL: Court Wizard of Glarond, an old sharp-witted man called by some "Old Man Rat" for his looks and furtive manner.
GLAROND, AUDEMAN: Baron (Lord) of Glarond, a lover of poetry and conspirator against the Risen King.
HALIDYNOR, ONTHALUS: claimant to the fallen upriver barony of Phelinndar; a large, fat, selfish, and spoiled man, now head of a long-successful merchant family largely based in Sirlptar, where Halidynor oars, sweeps, and barges have long seen everyday use.
HOLDYN: a former warrior in the service of Silvertree, now a duty guard at the Flagon and the Gauntlet inn in rural Phelinndar.
HULDAERUS, ARKLE: "the Master of Bats," sometime Lord Wizard of Ornentar, an ambitious, cruel, grasping mage known for using bat-related magic, commanding bats, and taking bat-shape; the minstrel Vilcabras once said at a moot that "Aglirta's worst nightmare would be Huldaerus and Silvertree, working together-a terror for Silverflow Vale one year, and all Darsar the next," and Huldaerus soon killed him for that utterance.
JHALANVYLUK, MARGATHE: Mistress of the Flagon, wife to Nortreen, and matron (mistress) and part owner of the prosperous The
Flagon and the Gauntlet inn, Margathe is a large, loud mountain of a woman once described as "pure viper venom. Always sour, doesn't miss a thing, rules her kitchens like a cruel swordsorn" (a swordsorn is a military officer, equivalent to sergeant); and in truth she rules Nortreen and the entire inn the same way.
JHALANVYLUK, NORTREEN: the prosperous tapmaster and proud part owner of the Flagon and the Gauntlet inn in rural Phelinndar for the better part of the two decades, and its tapmaster and second flagonman for another two before that; a large, jovial, bustling, fussy man now going to fat, who was in his day a feared brawler and accomplished warrior.
KALARTH: a formidable warrior, famous for his adventures both before and after his time in the service of the Baron Blackgult, who refuses to join Bloodblade's Band.
KESSRA: matron of the Old Lion inn in Ragalar, known to Ragalans for the prodigious and never-ending washing she hangs out from every rail and pillar and balcony of the Lion.
KETHER: a former warrior in the service of Silvertree, now a duty guard at the Flagon and the Gauntlet inn in rural Phelinndar.
KETHGAN: slayer-for-hire and professional "capturer" (hired kidnapper), formerly in the service of Baron Faerod Silvertree; a capable warrior and stealthy killer, who now works and travels with his partner, Vandur.
Koglaur, the: the "Faceless" or "Faceless Ones," legendary lurking humanlike shapeshifting beings who watch over Aglirta and meddle in its affairs for mysterious reasons of their own.
KORDUL: outland armaragor, long a member of the Swords of Sirlptar band.
LOUSHOOND, BERIAS: Lord Baron of Loushoond, a principled yet often cowardly man who reluctantly conspires against the Risen King; naive in the ways of the world and overly reliant on his factors, he's sometimes called "Baron Lackwit" (or "Lord Lackwit") behind his back.
LULTUS: a warrior in the service of the Baron Blackgult, who becomes one of Bloodblade's Band.
LUTHTUTH, EEIMGUR "VELVETFOOT": an accomplished, clever, and urbane lastalan (thief for hire or military scavenger and scout, sometimes also called a "procurer") and slayer-for-hire.
MAERBOTHAM, BELGUR: "Bel," a kindly, rather cowardly warrior and brigand who works with Weldrin, his onetime commander in (Silvertree) military service.
MAERLIN, URWYTHE: Baron (Lord) of Maerlin, an urbane conspirator against the Risen King.
MARINDRA: long-ago sorceress who gave her life to craft and perfect the great magic by which the King of Aglirta can be made to sleep, the Deeping Ritual or Calling to Slumber.
MARTHITH, CALARD:
