MAUVEIRON, AMMANTAS: a soft-spoken, urbane, and powerful out-land wizard allied to the Baron Adeln, in conspiracy against the Risen King.

Melted, the: men burned by a special firespell of the mage Corloun; their flesh droops and disfigures, and they become conduits of his magic (he can cast spells from afar, through their touch, or cause them to explode in flames).

MULKYN, GADASTER: first and most infamous Spellmaster of Silvertree; an aging, ruthless, evil archwizard who was tutor to Ingryl Ambelter-and whom Ingryl slew by a succession of life- and magic-stealing spells that forced Gadaster into a strange unlife.

MURGIN: an easygoing warrior and brigand who works with Weldrin, his onetime commander in (Silvertree) military service.

NAERIMDON, AUGRATH: Tersept (non-noble ruler) of Rithrym, a grasping, brutish tyrant ruling through his cortahars (sworn-to-him warriors).

NAOR: personal bodyblade (bodyguard) to Sendrith "Bloodblade" Duthjack who becomes a staunch member of Bloodblade's Band.

NARVIM, USTER: an accomplished, disciplined professional warrior and bodyguard, in the service of Blackgult but taken in by the Baron of Adeln after the disappearance of the Baron Blackgult and the collapse of that barony.

NIMMOR: a callous, ruthless Serpent-priest active in rural Phelinndar.

NLORVOLD the Balestaff: an experienced battle-mage who bears the Balestaff, an enchanted staff of fearsome properties beyond his complete control or understanding; one of the co-leaders of the Swords of Sirlptar (the other is its other wizard, Ressheven).

OBLARRAM, GURKYN: a cook and warrior in the service of the Baron Blackgult, who becomes one of Bloodblade's Band.

ORNENTAR, ELDAGH: Baron (Lord of Ornentar, venom-poisoned by the Serpents in The Kingless Land, and thus controlled by them (he must follow their orders to receive antidotes); thinks himself subtle but isn't; pudgy, sweating, and often blue-skinned due to the venom raging within him, and known for wearing many rings, formerly famous as "the Face of Stone" for his ability to control his features and emotions; a desperate conspirator, as the ruler of a barony weakened by the loss of its wizards soon after the rise of Baron Silvertree.

PELARD, YONTH: Tersept (non-noble ruler) of Yarsimbra; aging, short, stout, and grasping.

PELDRATHA, KAULISTUR: a young bard of Aglirta, a handsome man possessed of an almost womanly singing voice and a calm, patient manner.

PELDRUS: a warrior in the service of the Baron Blackgult, who becomes one of Bloodblade's Band.

PHALAGH of Ornentar: wizard slain in the ruins of Indraevyn in The Kingless Land, but animated into undeath by the lingering magic of the Stone of Life.

PHELODIIR, MONTHER: Master Factor (highest-ranking trade agent) of Sirlptar, a haughty and greedy man.

PHLUNDRIVVAL, THETH: royal factor (trade agent) in Sirlptar, one of two financial representatives of the Risen King stationed in the Glittering

City (Saerlor Dyndrie is the other); a young, darkly handsome, carefully diplomatic courtier who seeks to impress with his utmost loyalty and honesty- and to make for the king coins enough to assemble an army that can sweep any baron to the nearest bonepit, and make a united Aglirta truly great again… with, of course, a certain Theth Phlundrivval as Master of the Vaults.

Priest of the Serpent: oldest in service and most powerful worshipper of the Serpent, an anonymous and very clever man who among many other fell deeds slew a Koglaur and tricked Baron Ornentar into Serpent-servitude.

Priestess of the Serpent: the first woman seduced into love of the Serpent by the Priest of the Serpent, this anonymous woman meets with Baron Loushoond early on in The Vacant Throne.

QUELVER, ILIBAR: a gruff, gentle old warrior, once of Silvertree and now doorguard of the throne chamber of Flowfoam Castle.

QUOLDO, RESZVAR: Tersept (non-noble ruler) of Gilth, a soft-spoken, slender, and small man possessed of a sharp
